Warehouse Management Automation for Neste Easy Deli Self-Service Stores

Warehouse

Challenge

Neste fuel stations were originally designed so that drivers could independently refuel and pay for fuel without assistance – no on-site staff were required. While many still remember the traditional Neste retail stores, the business model has evolved significantly over recent years. The retail stores were gradually phased out, and the entire fuel station network transitioned toward full automation.

This transformation reached its peak at the end of 2021 with the launch of Neste Easy Deli-self-service stores operating entirely without sales staff.

Neste aimed to extend this same level of automation to warehouse operations. The goal was to manage warehouse processes end-to-end – from supplier to shelf – in a fully transparent and highly automated way, minimizing manual work as close to zero as possible.

After evaluating both international and local ERP providers, Neste selected Solwit. The decision was driven by Solwit’s ability to deliver a fast implementation, over 30 years of experience, and a cost-effective approach.

Solution

The solution involved implementing a customized Warehouse ERP module tailored to Neste’s specific operational requirements. The project was delivered in just 1.5 months.

Neste was pleased to choose a local partner over an international vendor. With strong domain expertise, Solwit acted not just as a software provider, but as a true implementation partner throughout the project.

All initial project objectives were successfully achieved, including full system deployment within the 1.5-month timeline. Today, Neste continues working with Solwit, further adapting and enhancing the solution to meet evolving business needs.

“It is a significant advantage when a vendor understands local regulations and the specific nuances of the domestic market.”

Key Project Benefits

Minimum Stock Level Control

The system allows each store to define minimum stock levels for every product. When inventory falls below the defined threshold, replenishment orders are automatically generated, ensuring accurate and efficient supply planning.

Automated Inventory Write-Off Based on Sales Data

Daily sales data from point-of-sale systems is automatically imported, and corresponding inventory write-off documents are generated in the system. Ingredients such as coffee supplies are also automatically deducted upon receipt in the store inventory system.

Use of Scanners in Warehouse Processes

Scanners are used across all warehouse operations – from receiving goods to dispatching them to stores. This significantly reduces human error and greatly improves operational efficiency.
