In 2002, LEVERSA acquired the standard Solwit products, to which we made minor adjustments over time, taking into account the specifics of the wholesale food business. This approach took almost 10 years, but with so much time with the original product, meeting the customer’s business needs became increasingly difficult. So we did a complete modernisation of the client’s software, not just an update.
How Solwit solutions have been driving growth for one of Latvia’s largest food wholesalers for more than 20 years
Solutions implemented
Task
Solution
The solution was a complete modernisation of both ERP modules (Warehouse and Accounting), further customising the systems to the client’s business. The company had grown many times over the years and the client still wanted to manage all business processes flexibly.
The complete modernisation of Accounting was completed in 2014, with the changeover of Latvia from the lats to the euro. The modernisation of the warehouse followed later, in 2018.
Leversa’s business has been modernising for more than 20 years in line with market developments. Solwit products, in turn, have evolved from the business needs of our customers. It is thanks to this parallel growth that such a long cooperation has developed. In particular, I would like to express my gratitude to the Solwit team for being so deeply involved in Leversa’s business processes.
“The commercial business is full of nuances that are not so easy to get to grips with, but the Solwit team always takes the time to get to the heart of the matter and find a solution.”
Highlights of the project
Detailed employee incentive scheme
Each post has its own motivations. Not everyone is motivated by the same results, so we developed a system with the ability to calculate different data. For example, for salespeople – the amount of goods sold. For order pickers – the number of orders fulfilled, the quantity of goods, the weight and whether the goods are whole or stacked on several pallets, whole bags or divided into several packages. For quality control staff, the number of lines inspected.
Independent work with order entry
Purchasers and quality control staff register their own orders with a scanner, and at the time of registration you can see an overview of the orders fulfilled during the month.
Automating the development of supply routes
Each LEVERSA customer has a delivery route. The logistics manager can create journeys from one or more routes and select the most suitable vehicle depending on the quantity, total weight and type of order. A driver can be specified for each journey.
Clear understanding of the location of products in the warehouse
Each item has its shelf position and weight. This results in picking sheets for the pickers, according to which the heaviest items are picked first, then the lightest. The picking route is optimised for these requirements.
The speed of processing a waybill started to take seconds instead of minutes. The number of operators could be reduced from four to one. Thanks to the fact that orders are automatically fed into the system, one operator handles around 250 orders per day. 98% of the work is automated – manual operations are reduced to a minimum.
Splitting orders at import
We developed criteria to improve the unbundling of goods at import. The criteria are: by type of goods (e.g. food, household chemicals), by line, i.e. so that there are no more than 23 lines per order. In this case, the bill of lading will have only one page.
As well as...
Automatic charging of excise duty and deposit levy.
Possibility to create linked goods and sell goods in packs or pallets at different prices.
Import of orders from E-Agent, Telema and Edisoft.
Export of waybills to Telema, Edisoft and Mego
